A Sunday night drive on Jacksonville’s Eastside turned violent when a man was grazed by a bullet while behind the wheel near Odessa Street, according to police. Investigators say he managed to drive himself to a local hospital, where he was treated for what authorities described as a non-life-threatening wound.
Police Say Ex-Boyfriend Was In The Backseat
According to the Action News Jax, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the victim told detectives his ex-boyfriend, who had been riding in the backseat, started beating him while he was driving. The victim and another passenger then heard a loud pop. The driver realized he was bleeding and had been grazed by a bullet, police said, and he headed straight to the hospital.
JSO told reporters the ex-boyfriend ran from the scene on foot. Detectives are still working to track him down.
