Four armed men allegedly stormed a Belmont apartment early Wednesday, held a family at gunpoint, fired two shots inside the home and escaped with valuables. No one was reported injured, but bullets tore through the walls and narrowly missed the woman’s husband.

According to News 12 Bronx, the invasion happened around 4 a.m. near Washington Avenue and East 185th Street. Exclusive Ring camera footage obtained by the station shows one suspect repeatedly kicking the front door while another appears to help force it open.

The woman who lives in the apartment told reporters that she, her husband and her nephew were asleep when loud banging woke them. The men allegedly claimed to be police officers, rushed inside and ordered the residents to lie face down while they searched the apartment for cash.

Suspects Returned After Leaving Apartment

The group reportedly ransacked multiple rooms before leaving, then returned about five minutes later and fired two rounds inside the home. The family said the gunfire ripped through the walls and came close to the woman’s husband before the suspects fled on foot.

As reported by News 12, the suspects stole cellphones, electronics, wallets, jewelry, designer handbags and other property. Investigators also said a Ring camera was damaged during the break-in and that at least one firearm was displayed.

NYPD Seeks Information From Belmont Residents

The NYPD is searching for the four men, and no arrests were reported in the available account. Anyone with information can contact the department’s Crime Stoppers program anonymously at 800-577-TIPS or through the NYPD Crime Stoppers page.

“We have to thank God that we’re alive,” the woman said, describing the attack as a terrifying ordeal for her family. Police have not publicly identified a motive or said whether the suspects knew the residents.
