A 67-year-old man was killed Saturday when a car jumped the curb and plowed onto a Brooklyn sidewalk near Franklin Avenue and St. Marks Avenue, police said. Traffic backed up for blocks as emergency crews and detectives flooded the scene and shut down lanes.
The deadly crash started when a Hyundai driven by a 32-year-old and a Toyota driven by a 48-year-old, both heading south on Franklin Avenue, collided, according to PIX11. The impact sent the Hyundai onto the sidewalk, where it struck the pedestrian, police said. Emergency medical services rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released his name. Both drivers stayed at the scene, and no arrests had been made as detectives continued their investigation.
