Germantown’s first Culver’s is shaping up to be more than a straightforward butter-burger pit stop. The project has moved off the sketchpad and onto a clearer timeline, and the building itself is being drafted into telling a little bit of the village’s Germanic story.
Village planners pushed for a more local look
Back in December, the Germantown Plan Commission signed off on a 4,403-square-foot drive-thru restaurant at N112W17300 Mequon Road, but only after pressing for a pitched roof and less exposed metal, according to Express News. Village staff later deemed the revised renderings “adequate and satisfactory,” saying the design matched the intent of Germantown’s Germanic theme, the outlet reported.
The village’s Village of Germantown approved-projects list shows the Culver’s site plan winning approval on Dec. 8, 2025, for the property at N112W17300 Mequon Road. The Daily Reporter earlier outlined the project as a restaurant with two drive-through lanes, a patio, a dining room and 52 parking spaces near the northwest corner of Mequon and Division roads.
The opening window is getting clearer
The latest update arrived Monday, when the Milwaukee Business Journal reported that the Germantown Culver’s is expected to open in January 2027 and will sport a German-themed design that departs from the chain’s typical look. It is the clearest public timeline yet for the project, which has spent months working through site-plan details and village review.
