Dick's Sporting Goods is bringing its DICK'S House of Sport concept to Westmoreland Mall in Greensburg on Aug. 7, 2026, turning the former two-level Sears anchor into a sprawling playground for athletes and weekend warriors alike. The opening weekend is set to feature autograph signings by two Pittsburgh professional athletes, giving the Route 30 mall a fresh shot of star power and adding another destination-style draw to the region.
According to the Pittsburgh Business Times, the Greensburg House of Sport will officially open its doors on Aug. 7 in the repurposed Sears space at Westmoreland Mall. The outlet also reported that two pro athletes are slated to appear for autographs during the store's debut, although it did not name the players.
What To Expect Inside
As DICK'S Sporting Goods explains on its House of Sport site, the format is designed as an experiential, destination-sized store that can feature a rock-climbing wall, HitTrax multi-sport cages and TrackMan golf bays. The Ross Park Mall location already showcases many of those amenities, and the Greensburg store will become the chain's second House of Sport in the Pittsburgh area.
Where It Will Live
Westmoreland Mall's directory lists "DICK'S House of Sport" as "Coming Summer 2026" in the two-level anchor bay once occupied by Sears. Mall management has been working to reposition large vacant anchor spaces in recent years, targeting more experience-driven tenants to help boost foot traffic.
Part Of A Bigger Trend
Swapping out traditional department-store anchors for attractions that emphasize activities over simple browsing has become a familiar strategy across the region. The move to revitalize Westmoreland Mall with House of Sport was flagged back in December 2024, when the initial deal came to light.
The Pittsburgh Business Times did not identify which athletes will appear at the grand opening. Shoppers who want in on the autograph sessions or other opening-weekend events should keep an eye on the retailer's House of Sport pages and the mall's event calendar for any sign-up requirements, timing updates and capacity notes.
For Greensburg-area shoppers, the new House of Sport is expected to deliver hands-on demos, lessons and a steady stream of events that DICK'S uses in other markets to build local loyalty. More details on the festivities and programming are likely to roll out as the Aug. 7 opening date gets closer.
