Greenville County is shaking up where some residents will cast their ballots in the Aug. 11 U.S. Senate Special Republican Primary, and officials are telling voters not to assume their usual spot is still their polling place.
On Wednesday, county officials warned that a large number of Election Day locations have been consolidated or moved for this one contest, and they are strongly urging voters to double check their assigned precinct before heading out to vote.
What Greenville County Has Posted
Greenville County Voter Registration & Elections has uploaded two key documents that spell out the temporary changes for this special primary: one listing the revised Election Day polling places and another detailing the early voting plan.
The county’s early voting notice designates McAlister Square (Back Entrance), 225 S. Pleasantburg Dr., as the early voting center for Aug. 5–7. The separate Election Day document lays out which precincts have been consolidated and where those voters are expected to report on Aug. 11.

Why Polling Places Were Condensed
Election officials say the changes are driven by timing and available buildings. The Aug. 11 primary lands on the first day of school, which means many school facilities that normally serve as polling places are off the table this time.
Patty Roach, interim director of Greenville County Voter Registration & Elections, told reporters that a compressed schedule and limited building availability forced the county to consolidate voting sites for this contest, a point reported by WSPA, according to AOL.

Voters are being urged to verify their precinct information before Election Day using both state and county resources, rather than relying on memory.
