North Raleigh residents at the Litchford Apartments had a tense late night Sunday after reports of gunfire brought a flood of police to the complex. Officers quickly threw up a perimeter around buildings and parking lots as they moved through the area searching for evidence. Police later said no one was hurt.
Heavy Response, Forensics On Scene
Raleigh officers were called to the complex near Dowd Forest Drive sometime after 11:30 p.m., according to WRAL. Wake County forensics teams were brought in to help investigators comb through units and parking areas as officers processed the scene. Authorities told the outlet there were no reported injuries linked to the gunfire.
Complex Has Seen Gun Violence Before
This is not the first time the Litchford 315 property has drawn a major police response. In April, a juvenile was wounded in a shooting at the same complex and taken to a hospital, according to ABC11. That earlier incident also triggered a sizable law enforcement presence and an investigation.
Investigation Still Active
Raleigh police say the case remains active and investigators are working to make an arrest, WRAL reports. Officers are asking anyone with information about the Sunday night gunfire to contact Raleigh police and assist with the ongoing investigation.
