
An afternoon burst of gunfire rattled the Ivy City neighborhood of Northeast Washington on Wednesday, leaving a man hospitalized with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting on Capitol Avenue NE. Officers quickly blocked off part of the street while investigators worked the scene and spoke with witnesses.
According to WJLA, the shooting unfolded Wednesday afternoon, and the victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that authorities said are not expected to be life-threatening. Police have not publicly released the victim’s name or any suspect information.

The shooting took place in the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District, which covers Ivy City and other Northeast neighborhoods. The district station at 1805 Bladensburg Road NE is listed by the Metropolitan Police Department as the hub for that area.
