A late-night shift at a Crofton 7-Eleven turned violent early Wednesday when a masked man pulled a handgun, assaulted a store clerk and took off with cash, leaving rattled employees and an active county investigation in his wake.
According to WBFF, Anne Arundel County police were called around 2:35 a.m. on July 1 for a reported commercial robbery in the 200 block of Davidsonville Road. Officers told the station that a male suspect walked into the store armed with a handgun, attacked the clerk, and then fled with an unknown amount of cash. Detectives with the department’s Regional Crimes Unit are handling the case.
The Crofton shop is listed at 2046 Davidsonville Road and is marked as open 24 hours a day on the retailer’s site, per 7‑Eleven. The online listing also includes a local phone number for the store.
A pattern of convenience-store robberies
Anne Arundel County police have repeatedly tasked their Regional Crimes Unit with probing armed robberies at convenience stores around the county, and past press releases describe several similar stickups. Those releases also direct tipsters to the department’s tip line at 410-222-4700 for anonymous information, according to an Anne Arundel County Police statement.
What police are asking
Officers described the suspect as a male wearing a black mask and urged anyone with information to call 410-222-4730, WBFF reports. Detectives are also asking anyone who may have surveillance footage or other evidence to come forward to help move the case along.
The investigation remains active, with detectives reviewing available video and chasing down leads. Local residents who saw anything suspicious around the time of the robbery are urged to contact police so investigators can piece together what happened and put a name to the masked gunman.
