Just before sunrise on August 12, 2019, the quiet on Shelbourne Road in Halethorpe was shattered when intruders forced their way into a home and opened fire. Inside, 28-year-old Drevon Jamal Williams was found in his bedroom, rushed to a nearby hospital, and later pronounced dead. Years later, the killing remains unsolved, with detectives still looking for the people who pulled the trigger.
Police say the 911 call came in shortly after 6 a.m. Officers arrived at a home in the 5600 block of Shelbourne Road, across from the UMBC athletic fields and Arbutus Middle School, and found Williams lying on the bedroom floor. Investigators searched the house and a car outside while crime-scene technicians collected evidence. From the start, officials treated the case as a targeted attack, according to WBAL.
How Investigators Say the Attack Unfolded
Baltimore County detectives say three men forced their way in through a back door, went straight to Williams’ bedroom and shot him before taking off in an unknown vehicle. Several other people were in the house at the time, including two small children, but no one else was hurt. The county later put up a reward through Metro Crime Stoppers for information in the case, according to CBS Baltimore.

Neighbors told reporters the shooting felt completely out of step with their normally calm street. "We were just totally shocked," one neighbor told WMAR-2 News, adding that the tight block had not seen anything like it in years. Residents described the house as one where people frequently came and went, and some said they had previously complained about fights outside the address.
