Hunting Valley police are digging into an antisemitic mailing that landed in a resident's mailbox this week, shaking a usually low-key stretch of Chagrin River Road where police calls are not exactly an everyday occurrence. Officers also recently checked on the well-being of someone at the same address, adding a tense footnote to an otherwise quiet corner of the village.
According to Cleveland.com, the antisemitic material arrived at the private home via the U.S. Postal Service on July 18. Two days earlier, on July 16, officers had already been called to the Chagrin River Road residence for a welfare check. That visit wrapped up after roughly 20 minutes, with police advising the resident to get in touch with a family member. Authorities have not released further details about who sent the mailing or to whom it was addressed.

While this case centers on a single household, civil rights observers say it fits into a much larger and troubling picture. The Anti-Defamation League’s Audit of Antisemitic Incidents logged a record 9,354 incidents in 2024 and has warned that elevated threats have persisted since October 2023, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
