El Despecho held its grand opening on July 17 and bills itself as San Antonio’s first full-time despecho bar, according to CultureMap San Antonio. The concept leans hard into karaoke nights built around torch songs and Latin breakup anthems, backed up by tacos and agave-forward cocktails. The spot is already live for reservations on OpenTable.
What to Expect Inside
These rooms specialize in heavy feelings and big singalongs. Expect communal choruses, bottle service on busier nights, and playlists stacked with rancheras and boleros. Miami New Times reports that Sala de Despecho’s U.S. locations have teamed up with Tacos Atarantados for tacos, paired with tequila and mezcal cocktails. Guides such as The Infatuation describe the Miami outposts as karaoke-forward, late-night destinations where lingering is part of the point. Sala de Despecho’s expected San Antonio home is not downtown but in The Rim shopping corridor, which puts the heartbreak concept in front of a far-north, high-traffic crowd. MySA previously reported that Salsita moved into a unit at 17711 I-10 in The Rim, and local listings such as TripAdvisor show that the frontage-road address has hosted a rotation of restaurant tenants. If Sala ultimately takes that suite, it will tuck a heartbreak-heavy karaoke room right into the path of commuters and families weaving through the massive retail hub.
