Hernando County deputies brought a long-running manhunt to a close on July 17, arresting 43-year-old Jeremy Gordon after what authorities say was a cross-state search lasting more than 18 months. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the county jail while agencies sort out the mix of local and out-of-state paperwork.
According to Tampa Free Press, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Intelligence Unit arrested Gordon after a background check revealed an active Washington State Department of Corrections parole-violation warrant issued Dec. 27, 2024, linked to a first-degree child-molestation conviction, along with a Spokane County warrant filed Oct. 8, 2025, charging him with failure to register as a sex offender. The outlet reports that Gordon also faces local Hernando charges for failing to register as a sexual offender, providing false identification to law enforcement and driving on a suspended or revoked license, and that authorities plan to extradite him to Washington once local matters are resolved in court.
