A late-night walk on Historic Mitchell Street turned tragic Monday when a 73-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on Milwaukee’s near south side, police said.
The collision happened around 11:35 p.m. near South 11th Street. First responders arrived to find the victim critically injured, and the person was pronounced dead at the scene. Police shut down the block overnight while crash investigators documented the roadway and spoke with witnesses.
According to WISN, the vehicle was heading west on Mitchell Street when it struck the pedestrian, who was in the roadway. Police told the station the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The victim’s identity has not yet been released, with authorities waiting to notify family members.
