A weekend bike ride in Dundalk turned deadly on Saturday morning when a cyclist was struck by a vehicle that then took off near Merritt Boulevard and North Point Road, according to Baltimore County police. The rider was rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
As the Dundalk Eagle reported Monday, police have not released the cyclist's name and are treating the case as an active hit-and-run investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call the Baltimore County Police Crash Team at 410-887-5396.
Another Deadly Crash On A Familiar Corridor
The intersection sits along an eastern Baltimore County corridor that has seen more than its share of serious crashes. Earlier this year, a separate fatal collision at Merritt Boulevard and Wise Avenue was reported by CBS Baltimore, while WMAR covered an earlier deadly hit-and-run on North Point Boulevard in Dundalk.
For neighbors and commuters who bike or drive through this stretch every day, the latest case is a stark reminder of how quickly a familiar route can turn dangerous. Police say the investigation into Saturday's crash remains open.
