A 911 caller reported that several people had been shot around 8:15 p.m., and officers kept describing the scene as active as they worked the case.

The update went out as officers, ambulances, and other emergency crews converged on the neighborhood, secured the perimeter, and began the slow, methodical process of investigating what happened.

What initial reports say
A 911 caller reported multiple people shot about 8:15 p.m., according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The paper reported that dozens of police units and ambulances were on scene, helicopters circled overhead, and fireworks and a nearby street party were underway as officers worked. It was not immediately clear whether those celebrations had any connection to the shooting.
