A late-night shooting in the Hollywood Hills turned into a brief standoff early Friday after police tracked a wounded man’s account to a nearby home and arrested a 53-year-old suspect. The victim, a 27-year-old man found injured near Cahuenga Boulevard and Odin Street, was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, authorities said.
Investigators followed leads from the intersection to a residence in the hills, where the man they believed to be involved refused at first to follow officers’ commands. The tense scene ended in the early morning when a man and woman walked out of the house with a dog, and officers moved in to take the man into custody without further incident.
How Police Tracked the Suspect
Officers responded around 10:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire at Cahuenga Boulevard and Odin Street, according to KTLA. The outlet reports that the wounded 27-year-old told investigators someone fired a gun through a closed door, hitting him. Detectives used information gathered at the scene to trace the incident to a nearby Hollywood Hills home, where they located the 53-year-old man, the report says.
From Standoff to Arrest
The Los Angeles Police Department said the person inside the residence did not initially comply with officers’ orders to come out, and that when the door opened, officers saw a man holding a firearm. At about 2 a.m., a man and a woman emerged from the home with their dog, and officers detained the man, according to police. Authorities said the arrest happened without any additional violence as detectives stayed on scene to collect evidence. The department has not released the suspect’s name or said whether charges have been filed.
Investigation Still Underway
Per KTLA, the victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Detectives continue interviewing witnesses and processing the scene, while Los Angeles police have not yet provided more details about a possible motive or potential charges.
