A 30-year-old man was shot and killed early Friday inside a Hollywood apartment building, turning a quiet pre-dawn stretch near Lanewood Avenue into the latest active homicide scene for LAPD detectives.
Police say the deadly attack unfolded at about 2:15 a.m. in the 7000 block of Lanewood Avenue at Orange Drive, when a male suspect went into the building, opened fire on the victim and then took off on foot. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shooting Details From Police
According to MyNewsLA, an LAPD spokeswoman said the victim had been inside the apartment with three other people when the gunman came in and started shooting. The spokeswoman said investigators are withholding the victim's name until relatives can be notified.
Scene Observations
A news videographer at the scene told reporters the victim appeared to have been "shot in the head," according to MyNewsLA. As of early Friday morning, police had not announced any arrests, and detectives were canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and security video.
