A normally quiet stretch of southeast Charlotte is under a homicide investigation after Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers responded Sunday to the 7100 block of Wallace Road, according to officials.
Police said detectives are working the scene but have not released the victim’s name, identified any suspects or shared a possible motive. The case remains wide open as investigators continue to process the area for evidence.
According to Queen City News, officers converged on the 7100 block of Wallace Road and a news crew was headed to the scene. At that point, no additional details had been made public, although activity on the ground showed a significant police presence as investigators secured the area.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police typically assign the Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Search to deadly-force investigations, and the department urges anyone with information to come forward. Tipsters can call the Homicide Unit at 704-432-8477 (TIPS) or share an anonymous tip with Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. In past case updates CMPD has said MEDIC, Victim Services and other units often respond alongside detectives to help process scenes and support victims and families.
A familiar stretch
This block of Wallace Road, sadly, has seen this kind of police response before. A fatal April 2025 shooting on Wallace Road drew a similar homicide investigation, with Crime Scene Search and MEDIC on site.
