A body report near Sims Bayou sent Houston police homicide investigators to the Gulf Freeway on Wednesday morning, opening another unsettling death investigation in southeast Houston. The case remains thin on details, with authorities still working to determine what happened and who the person was.
A caller reported finding a body in a grassy area at 8139 Gulf Freeway, near Sims Bayou, and police said the call came in around 9 a.m. Wednesday. Click2Houston reported that the investigation was still developing, with no victim identity, cause of death or suspect information released.
Investigators Have Not Released Key Details
The report comes after other recent body recoveries in Houston waterways, though authorities have not indicated that the cases are connected. On July 13, a body was recovered from Greens Bayou in east Houston after firefighters responded to a report of someone in the water, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Six days later, emergency crews recovered another body from Brays Bayou in southeast Houston after a caller reported seeing someone floating in the water, Click2Houston reported. Wednesday’s Gulf Freeway investigation is still in its earliest stage, and additional information is expected as detectives and the medical examiner work to identify the person and determine the manner of death.
