An evening dominoes gathering in northeast Houston ended in deadly gunfire Wednesday night, leaving a 20-year-old man dead and a 50-year-old man critically wounded. Police are now trying to determine who opened fire — and whether two shooters were involved.
The shooting happened around 10 p.m. in the 4900 block of Laura Koppe Road, according to Click2Houston. Houston police said the older victim was shot in the face while inside a vehicle, and a friend drove him to a hospital, where he remained in critical condition. Investigators believe both men may have been at the location to play dominoes and said they do not believe either victim was involved in whatever led to the gunfire.

The latest violence unfolded in an area with a recent history of shootings involving large gatherings. During a 2024 HPD media briefing, police said a block-party shooting at 4901 Laura Koppe Road killed three men and wounded eight other people.
Police Have Few Leads In The Latest Shooting
In Wednesday night’s case, officers recovered numerous pistol shell casings but no rifle casings, and no weapon was recovered from the deceased victim, Click2Houston reported. Authorities said it remains unclear how many suspects were involved, although investigators believe there may have been two shooters. Police also said large groups regularly gather at the location, but no reliable witnesses had yet provided information about what sparked the shooting or who fired.
