Howard’s Office of University Communications says the school contacted first-time-in-college students and their families multiple times from March through July using emails, personalized financial-aid information, videos and Bison Prep sessions, and that officials are now reviewing cases in which scholarship funding was still pending, according to a statement from Howard University. The statement says confirming who is actually enrolled is necessary so the school can plan housing, course schedules and student services for Fall 2026. The timing leaves administrators roughly three weeks to lock in the incoming class, orientation and housing assignments. A Change.org petition created on July 22 calling on Howard to resolve the unenrollment issue drew thousands of signatures within a day, according to Change.org. Students told reporters they plan to push the university for reinstatement or at least clearer appeals paths.
