A 27-year-old Howards Grove man was killed early Monday after his Jaguar coupe left a rural roadway and crashed into a cornfield in the Town of Herman, turning a quiet overnight stretch into a fatal scene. The car was found in a field just east of Bridgewood Road near Garton Road, where first responders tried to save the driver but ultimately pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to WTMJ, the Sheboygan County Emergency Communications Center received an automatic crash notification at about 12:20 a.m. Investigators say the Jaguar had been traveling east on Garton Road when it left the pavement and slammed into the cornfield just east of Bridgewood Road. The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office reported that the Jaguar was the only vehicle involved and the driver was the sole occupant.
This is at least the second fatal crash reported in Sheboygan County this month, following a July 4 single-motorcycle wreck that killed a 40-year-old man in the Town of Mosel, as reported by WBAY. With summer traffic picking up, local officials have urged drivers to take extra care on county roads.
Emergency response and investigation
Emergency crews from multiple departments converged on the scene, including Orange Cross Ambulance, the Howards Grove Fire Department, Howards Grove First Responders, the Ada Fire Department and the Sheboygan County Drone Unit, according to WTMJ. The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash and, the outlet reports, has said that no additional information is being released at this time.
