An 18-year-old Jacksonville motorcyclist is in critical condition after a late-night hit-and-run at the T-intersection of Faye Road and Dunn Creek Road on Saturday, June 26. Family members say they are still searching for answers after the rider was found lying in the roadway and rushed to the hospital. Neighbors reported seeing a car speed away from the scene, and investigators are now asking the public to help track down the vehicle that took off.
The crash happened around 10:59 p.m., when a sedan and a motorcycle collided at the intersection, according to News4JAX, which reviewed the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office crash report. The report identifies the rider as 18-year-old Jaiden Alexander Swygert and lists his injuries as incapacitating. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue transported him to a nearby hospital. Witness accounts did not line up perfectly: one person described the fleeing car as a dark-colored sedan, another recalled a white vehicle with dark tint turning onto Dunn Creek Road and heading north, and one witness told investigators the motorcycle did not have lights on.
How to help investigators
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information to call the non-emergency line at 904-630-0500. Tips can also be shared anonymously with First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS. Detectives say even the smallest detail, such as a partial license plate, dash-cam recording, or doorbell video clip, could help them reconstruct what happened that night.
Hit-and-runs remain a statewide problem
Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles reports that the state logged about 97,519 hit-and-run crashes last year and urges drivers to “stay at the scene,” noting that fear, poor visibility and impairment are common reasons people leave instead. Local figures highlight the danger close to home. Mid-June numbers from News4JAX show seven hit-and-runs among Duval County’s traffic fatalities in 2026. Investigators say community tips are often crucial in these cases, and that even brief or blurry footage can be the missing piece that identifies a vehicle that left the scene.
