
An overnight stabbing in Jeffersonville turned into a several-hours-long police standoff, ending Wednesday with a man in custody and the victim hospitalized. The confrontation unfolded after officers found the suspect barricaded inside a residence.
According to WAVE News, officers were called around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday for a stabbing reported at an unknown location. Follow-up information led police to the 1900 block of E. 8th Street, where officers found a suspect barricaded inside a home.
JPD Drone Team Joined SWAT Response
The Jeffersonville Police Department identifies SWAT and its UAV, or drone, team as specialized units within its patrol division, according to the department. Those resources were part of a coordinated response that also included the department's crisis negotiation team.
The man was eventually taken into custody with help from JPD's drone team, SWAT and CNT, WAVE reported. The victim was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds, while additional details about the suspect and any potential charges were not included in the initial report.
