Pittsburgh is getting a slow-jam time machine this fall: Jodeci will bring its Forever My Lady 35th Anniversary Tour to Citizens Live at The Wylie on Wednesday, Nov. 11, with the group’s signature early-’90s R&B hits on deck.
The newly announced show celebrates Jodeci’s landmark 1991 debut album, and the quartet is expected to perform “Stay,” “Come And Talk To Me” and “Forever My Lady,” according to WTAE. The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Pittsburgh’s newest major music venue.
Presales Start Thursday Morning
Fans will get several early chances at tickets before the general onsale. Ticketmaster lists Citizens Bank, Live Nation and VIP presales beginning Thursday at 10 a.m., while tickets for the general public go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
The show lands as the album’s anniversary is getting a physical-media revival of its own. An expanded 2LP edition includes five bonus tracks, including a live “Forever My Lady” performance from Uptown MTV Unplugged, a radio remix of “Come And Talk To Me” and an a cappella version of “Stay,” according to uDiscover Music; a 35th anniversary CD edition was also released in July, according to AllMusic.
A Big R&B Booking For Pittsburgh’s New Venue
Jodeci’s concert will be one of the early headline bookings for Citizens Live at The Wylie, the new Lower Hill venue operated by Live Nation. The venue’s official site lists the space at 1201 Wylie Ave., while Hoodline’s earlier look described a roughly 4,000-seat room designed to pull more major tours into Pittsburgh.
Jodeci’s official website identifies Forever My Lady as the group’s debut and highlights its chart-topping title track along with “Stay” and “Come & Talk To Me.” For Pittsburgh fans, that points to an evening built around velvet harmonies, dramatic slow jams and a crowd that will suddenly remember every word.
