Kahala’s Zippy’s is back in action. After roughly four months behind construction barriers, the longtime Kahala Mall staple reopened Tuesday on Waialae Avenue, bringing back Napoleon’s Bakery favorites, the chain’s signature plates and a sushi bar to hungry regulars.
The update did more than swap out some furniture. The dining room has been freshly spruced up, and the company says behind-the-scenes upgrades are aimed at improving service and smoothing out the pickup flow. As reported by Hawaii News Now, the renovated restaurant once again features Zippy’s classic dishes, Napoleon’s Bakery and a sushi bar operated by Kahala Sushi.
What Changed Inside Kahala Zippy’s
Aloha State Daily reported the Kahala Zippy’s threw its doors open at 6 a.m. on reopening day, after what the company described as extensive interior work. That outlet noted the refresh covered both the customer-facing space and behind-the-scenes equipment upgrades.
Jessica Yamamoto, Zippy’s communications manager, told Aloha State Daily that “Most of the renovations won't be super noticeable to our customers,” explaining that the location also received a food-locker system to help streamline pickup orders.
Hours, Address And What Is Back On The Menu
The Kahala Zippy’s is located at 4134 Waialae Ave., an address listed by MapQuest. For those plotting their next chili-and-rice run, the restaurant’s online ordering page shows current hours and menu details.
Zippy's online ordering includes Napoleon’s Bakery items and sushi options among its offerings, signaling that the full lineup of comfort-food standards and raw-fish favorites is back in the rotation.
Why It Matters
The Kahala reopening lands in the middle of Zippy’s 60th anniversary year, as the homegrown chain rolls out collaborations and limited-time menu offerings. Aloha State Daily has tracked those anniversary partnerships, which help explain why a refreshed Kahala store carries extra weight for longtime customers and nearby merchants who count on steady traffic from the local institution.
