According to Honolulu Police, the confrontation unfolded at about 6:00 a.m. on July 24, when the vehicle owner approached an unknown male inside his parked car. The suspect allegedly pulled out a knife, threatened the victim and took off in the vehicle, which officers later determined had been stolen.
Witnesses described the suspect as a Micronesian male, about 5-foot-4 and 160 pounds with a thin build, police said. While following leads in the case, officers were called to a separate crash near the robbery site. Investigators have not said whether the collision was directly tied to the stolen vehicle.
