A 45-year-old man who tried to break up a fight on Kona Street was shot early Sunday, turning a late-night scuffle into a dangerous crime scene in the heart of Honolulu.
Honolulu police said officers were called shortly after 3 a.m. to the area fronting 1224 Kona Street, where an altercation had spilled into the street. When the man intervened, another man pulled a gun and shot him, according to investigators. The suspect, described only as an adult male, fled before officers arrived. The victim was taken to a hospital, and police have not released his condition.
