A robbery suspect was shot by Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies Friday in the La Riviera area and taken to a hospital, authorities said. Deputies were reported to be OK after the shooting.
The shooting was reported near Barracuda Way and Salmon Falls Drive, according to KCRA 3. The sheriff’s office said the suspect was shot by deputies, but the number of deputies involved was not immediately clear.
The extent of the suspect’s injuries also was not immediately known. It was unclear which person fired the weapon or weapons, KCRA reported, leaving key details of the encounter unresolved.

The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office independently reviews officer-involved shootings that result in injury or death, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office. That review examines whether criminal charges may be warranted, but does not determine civil liability, department policy or whether different tactics should have been used.
The investigation remains active, and additional information about the robbery call, the suspect’s condition and the sequence of gunfire was not immediately available.
