A specialized Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department response unfolded in Lancaster Thursday night after a male suspect barricaded himself in the area, bringing the department's Special Enforcement Bureau to the scene. According to an LASD alert, the incident was reported in the 3700 block of West Avenue K, where SEB assumed tactical command. The department identified the suspect only as a male adult and said Lieutenant Andrew Toone was assigned to the operation.
Negotiators Were Seeking A Peaceful Resolution
The Crisis Negotiation Team was expected to make contact with the suspect and work toward a peaceful resolution, the department said. LASD policy says crisis negotiators are available around the clock and respond to barricaded-suspect incidents when a special weapons team is requested.
The department's Special Enforcement Bureau provides specialized tactical and rescue support across Los Angeles County, including responses to barricaded suspects and other high-risk situations.
