According to Queen City News, officers and Mecklenburg EMS crews were called to the 8200 block of University City Boulevard just before 1 a.m. today. MEDIC said it transported two people to area hospitals, one with life-threatening injuries. The shooting happened outside an event center that was in use at the time, and police later confirmed a man was taken to a hospital and died from his injuries.
