A late-night fight inside a Sayville restaurant early Friday left a 19-year-old with serious but non-life-threatening stab wounds and another man in custody, according to Suffolk police.
Police say 23-year-old Aaron Gonzalez stabbed the 19-year-old during a dispute that broke out around 1:10 a.m. inside a restaurant on South Main Street, as reported by News 12 New York. The victim was taken to South Shore University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and Gonzalez was transported to NYU Langone Hospital–Suffolk with minor injuries.
Charges and Court Date
Gonzalez was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was held overnight and scheduled to be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip, according to Patch. Patch also reports that Gonzalez was treated for minor injuries at NYU Langone Hospital–Suffolk in East Patchogue following the fight.

The stabbing is one of several violent incidents Suffolk County police have dealt with this month. In an earlier, unrelated case, the department announced an arrest in a fatal stabbing in Medford, according to a Suffolk County Police press release. The same release reiterates that a criminal charge is an accusation, and any defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
