
A late Wednesday night at a Selden shopping center ended in violence when a 46-year-old man was stabbed and seriously hurt in the parking lot at 990 Middle Country Road, the address of My Place Tavern. Officers found the victim in the lot and he was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. No arrests have been made and detectives say the investigation remains active.
According to Suffolk County police, a 911 caller reported an injured person in the parking lot just before midnight. Responding officers discovered the 46-year-old with stab wounds and he was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment, according to News12. Bar At Scene Had Liquor-Authority Action
License records from the New York State Liquor Authority show My Place Tavern, at 990 Middle Country Road, was cited in 2024 for a gambling-device violation and hit with a $3,000 civil penalty. The enforcement record offers some context for one of the few late-night bars operating along this busy stretch of Middle Country Road.
Violence Has Flared On This Stretch Before
News12 reported a Feb. 19 stabbing in a Selden parking lot near 949 Middle Country Road that ended with the arrest of a teenager accused of stabbing another teen. The Suffolk County Police also documented a May 8 pedestrian fatality in Selden in a department press release. Together, the incidents highlight a recent run of serious public-safety cases in the area that local officials are watching closely.
