A late-night confrontation outside a southeast Houston apartment complex ended in gunfire early Monday, leaving a maintenance worker shot multiple times, according to police. The worker was taken to a hospital in stable condition, and officers were still searching the area for suspects after the shooting in the 3600 block of Old Spanish Trail.
Officers with the South Central Patrol Division responded shortly after midnight to reports of shots fired and found the worker suffering from several gunshot wounds, Click2Houston reported. Investigators told the outlet that the worker had earlier asked a group, believed to be in their late teens or early 20s, to leave the property. The group reportedly left, then returned and opened fire.

Detectives have not announced any arrests and are asking the public for help. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers, authorities said.
