
A late-night party in rural Smith Township turned chaotic early Saturday when a pickup truck drove into three people, leaving one of them in critical condition and undergoing surgeries. The crash happened near Creek Road at an outdoor gathering that had drawn a crowd to a field or wooded clearing. Authorities say they have identified everyone involved and are still working to understand how the truck ended up hitting the group.
Police: Crash Reported Around 2:22 a.m.
In a social media post, Detective Tyler Evans said the Smith Township Police Department was notified at about 2:22 a.m. Saturday that a Ford Ranger had struck three people near Creek Road. One victim remains in critical condition and is undergoing surgeries, according to WPXI.
Witnesses Sought
Police say a large number of people were at the gathering in the wooded or open-field area and that detectives have identified the victims and the driver of the Ranger. Investigators are asking anyone who saw the crash or who has video to call Washington County 911 or the Smith Township Police Department at (724) 947-5069 ext. 205, according to Smith Township.
Investigation Continues
Detectives say the investigation is active and that officers are interviewing witnesses and reviewing any available video from the party. Officials have not disclosed whether charges will be filed as the investigation continues, as reported by WPXI.
