Los Dos Potrillos in Littleton is firing up the kitchen again, with the neighborhood favorite set to reopen Thursday, July 9, at 11 a.m. after a March kitchen fire forced a months-long shutdown. During the closure, the family-owned restaurant repaired the damage and took the opportunity to refresh the dining room with new touches that spotlight the Ramirez family's Mexican heritage, so regulars can expect the same crowd-pleasing plates in a slightly revamped setting.
According to ColoradoBiz, the Littleton outpost will resume service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, after extensive repair work. The outlet also notes that this location is part of a multi-restaurant group serving diners across the Denver metro area.
March blaze and response
Westword reports that West Metro Fire Rescue crews were called in just before noon on March 3 after multiple witnesses spotted flames coming from the roof. The department said the fire began in the kitchen and traveled up through the hood ventilation system, but sprinklers and firefighters kept the damage contained to the kitchen area, and no injuries were reported.
Renovation work and a Wall of Traditions
Ramirez Hospitality Group used the unexpected downtime to remodel the roughly 7,389-square-foot Littleton dining room and to create a new "Wall of Traditions" that highlights family recipes from Jerez, Zacatecas, according to ColoradoBiz. CEO Daniel Ramirez told the outlet that Littleton "has always held a special place in our hearts" and offered thanks to first responders and neighbors for their support throughout the closure.
