On the Allegheny County Health Department consumer alerts listing, the July 16 entry for The Yard’s Market Square location cites “multiple cold foods at improper temperatures and malfunctioning refrigeration equipment.” The listing specifically identifies the downtown address at 100 5th Avenue.
Warm readings, repeat violations
According to WPXI, the county’s inspection report measured the walk-in cooler’s ambient air at 51 degrees and found “various temperature-controlled foods” above 41 degrees. Inspectors later returned for a reinspection and, per the station’s reporting, found the same temperature problems still in play.
Countdown to fix it or close
WPXI also reports that the county has given The Yard 10 days to correct the violations or face an order to close. That timeline puts pressure on the restaurant to get its refrigeration back in working order before public health officials decide whether the doors stay open.
