McDonough’s dessert scene is about to get a serious sugar boost. Local realtor Simmi Patel is bringing franchised concept Decadent Coffee & Dessert Bar to 99 Hwy 81, Suite 104, with permitting already in motion and construction next on deck. Her goal is to open by the end of the year and give McDonough a full-service spot for coffee and baked goods instead of yet another grab-and-go option.
Patel told What Now Atlanta she first ran into the brand in Warner Robins, then realized it was a franchise and decided to plant a flag in Henry County. “I tried their coffee and dessert and it’s truly amazing,” she said, adding that “basically any major dessert you can think of, we’re going to have it.” Renderings credited to Patel show a contemporary dining room with a pastry case front and center and a walk-up counter for coffee orders.
What to expect
The Decadent menu leans bakery-forward: cakes, cheesecakes, pies, brownies, cookies, cannolis and rotating pastries, along with coffee and tea like nitro cold brew, lattes and frappes. According to Decadent, the chain makes everything “from scratch, all day, everyday” and swaps items out seasonally. That pairing of sweets and specialty coffee is what Patel says convinced her the concept would click in McDonough.
Where it will sit
The new storefront is slated for a small retail strip on Highway 81 just off I-75, in a corridor already packed with quick-service restaurants and takeout-heavy chains. Listings for the shopping center show a Ding Tea location at 99 Highway 81 W, per MapQuest, and a local directory lists another eatery at the same address, per Toast. Patel says she sees room in that mix for a true sit-down dessert bar.
Brand growth
Decadent’s locations page lists McDonough as “Coming Soon” and shows other spots in Warner Robins and Fulton, Maryland, signaling a franchised footprint across several states. As outlined by Decadent, the company runs a corporate location in Warner Robins and maintains franchise units in other markets. Patel is following that model as she moves through permitting, build-out and hiring for the McDonough shop.
For now, Patel is locked in on permits and interior work and remains optimistic about opening by year’s end. We reached out for comment and will update when an official opening date is announced. Patel’s full remarks are available in What Now Atlanta.
