A late-night 911 call at a McKinney apartment complex turned into a tense few minutes for responding officers last Saturday, after police say a 25-year-old man fired a shotgun at one of them before giving up and being taken into custody.
Officers were called to the Gray Branch Apartments on reports of shots fired. According to police, a responding officer came under fire from a shotgun-wielding suspect. No one was hit, and no officers or members of the public were injured, which is about the only good news in an otherwise harrowing encounter.
In a press release shared by the McKinney Police Department, investigators identified the suspect as 25-year-old Alexis Calderon. Police say Calderon eventually surrendered and was arrested without further incident, then booked into the Collin County Detention Facility on a charge of aggravated assault against a public servant. The department listed case number 26-005629 and said the investigation is still underway.

What the police say they found
After the arrest, detectives searched the apartment tied to the incident. The McKinney Police Department said investigators recovered numerous firearms, ammunition, and expended shell casings during that search.
