Miami rolled into Tuesday, July 7, 2026, already stuck in the low 80s, with humidity cranking the discomfort level even higher. Forecasters expect highs in the upper 80s and a heat index hovering around 100 to 105 degrees this afternoon. Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms are possible, but they are not expected to bring much lasting relief from the muggy air.
Heat Advisory In Effect Tuesday Midday
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for coastal and metro Miami-Dade and Broward counties from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, warning that heat indices may reach or exceed 105 degrees. For the official advisory, see the National Weather Service; this update follows our earlier holiday sizzle coverage with new timing for Tuesday.
Afternoon Heat And Storm Chances
Expect a high near 89 with partly sunny skies and a chance of showers and thunderstorms developing after about 8 a.m. The forecast currently shows roughly a 50% chance for rain across metro areas. Any storms that form may be slow moving with frequent lightning and brief heavy downpours, so outdoor plans should include a backup or at least a shady spot.
Commuters And Events
Storm-related downpours could briefly cut visibility and make roads slick during the afternoon commute, and sidewalks at beach or park gatherings may get wet and muddy. Heat will be the primary hazard between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., so limit strenuous outdoor work during that window and reschedule where possible.
Where To Cool Off
The City of Miami operates 11 Cooling Centers during the May 1–Oct 31 heat season, and the county runs additional library and park sites for residents who need air-conditioned relief. See the City of Miami's list of cooling centers on the City of Miami website for addresses and hours, or call 311 for help locating the nearest site.
Heat Safety Tips
Drink plenty of water, avoid heavy exertion during peak heat, and check on elderly neighbors and pets. Signs of heat exhaustion include dizziness, nausea, heavy sweating, and weakness. If someone shows signs of heat stroke such as confusion, fainting, or hot, dry skin, call 911 immediately.
