Why this matters
A joint investigation by St. Louis Public Radio, APM Reports and The Marshall Project found that more than 1,900 people were killed in the city from 2014 through 2023, and over 1,000 of those homicides remain unsolved. The reporting highlights long-term challenges for investigators, with the combination of unresolved cases and staffing pressures leaving many families without answers and straining department resources.
Police have not released the victim's name or reported any arrests as of early Friday morning, and department officials have not provided additional details. As reported by First Alert 4, the case remains under active investigation.
