Milwaukee gets a quiet start Friday, with clear skies and temperatures around 66 degrees early in the morning. That calm will not last: clouds build through the day, scattered showers arrive after 1 p.m., and temperatures slide from near 80 into the mid-70s by afternoon.
Rain Arrives Friday Afternoon
Showers become more likely from midafternoon into the evening, with a 40% chance of rain during the day. South winds will stay light at first, reaching about 10 mph, while isolated thunder is possible, especially south of Interstate 94.
Friday night looks considerably wetter, with a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms and 1 to 2 inches of rain possible. East winds will increase to 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, as temperatures fall to around 66 degrees.
Saturday Stays Cloudy And Blustery
Showers and thunderstorms continue Saturday, keeping skies cloudy and the high near 70. Northeast winds of 15 to 20 mph could gust to 30 mph, and rain may linger into Saturday evening before gradually tapering off.
The National Weather Service says flooding or severe storms are not currently expected, but the combination of heavy rain and gusty winds will make for a soggy weekend across southeastern Wisconsin.
Lakefront Swimming Is A Bad Bet
A Beach Hazards Statement begins late Friday night and continues through Sunday night for Milwaukee and other Lake Michigan shoreline counties. Waves of 4 to 6 feet and dangerous currents are expected, so beachgoers should stay out of the water and away from piers, breakwalls and other structures; the National Weather Service offers additional beach-safety guidance.
Sunshine Returns Sunday
Conditions improve Sunday, with partly sunny skies, a high near 72 and north winds gusting to about 25 mph. Sunday night should be mostly clear with a low near 61, followed by sunny, milder weather Monday and Tuesday with highs near 77 and 78.
The next chance for showers and thunderstorms arrives Tuesday night into Wednesday, but the forecast currently keeps those chances relatively low compared with this weekend's soaking system.
