A Montreal deli with 75 years of smoked-meat history is getting ready to make its first U.S. stop in Henderson. Lester’s Deli is bringing its old-school sandwiches, poutine and grill menu to the Las Vegas Valley, giving local diners a new reason to debate whether mustard belongs on everything.
The restaurant is planning its first location outside Canada at 1590 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, Suite 170, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Henderson building records reviewed by the paper show that a kitchen hood permit has been issued for the space, although the records did not yet show a business license for Lester’s.
A firm grand-opening date has not been announced. Lester’s official location page describes the Henderson restaurant as opening soon, even as another section uses “now open” language, suggesting the company’s website is still being updated while the Nevada launch takes shape.
Lester’s is not a brand-new concept dressed up in vintage fonts. Eater Montreal lists the deli as a Montreal classic that has operated since 1951, with owner Billy Berenholc and a long-standing reputation for smoked meat.
Smoked Meat, Poutine And A Full Deli Menu
The company’s published menu points toward a broad lineup rather than a one-sandwich operation. The Henderson page highlights smoked-meat plates, a stacked Super Deluxe sandwich, a club roll and roast beef, while Lester’s menu also features burgers, hot dogs, breakfast platters, bagels and lox, roast beef and multiple poutine combinations.
That poutine list includes traditional gravy and cheese curds alongside versions topped with smoked meat, grilled chicken, hot dog or bacon, with vegan gravy also listed. For anyone who considers a sandwich a reasonable excuse to order fries on the side, this is promising news.
The operation also appears to be moving toward staffing and build-out, not merely testing the waters online. Recent Indeed listings tied to the Henderson address sought kitchen-prep and sandwich-making workers as well as counter and takeout staff.
For Henderson, Lester’s arrival would add a distinctly Montreal accent to the area’s deli competition. Until the company posts a clear opening date and the remaining local approvals are in place, the smoked-meat pilgrimage remains a coming attraction—but the rye bread appears to be on its way.
