Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene, and city officials say the death remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet released any identifying details about the victim.
Crews were dispatched around noon for a report of an unresponsive man floating near a dock off the Ship Canal Trail by the ASUW Shell House, according to KIRO 7. Fire crews recovered the body from the water, and responders declared the man dead at the scene, the station reported.

The area sits on the University of Washington waterfront beside the historic boathouse documented by Wikipedia, with Husky Stadium overlooking Union Bay at 3800 Montlake Blvd NE, listed on UWStadium.com. The nearby multiuse path is part of the Ship Canal Trail, described by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy as a key pedestrian and bike route around the Montlake Cut and Union Bay.

Seattle police are investigating the circumstances of the man’s death, and the King County medical examiner will determine the cause, KIRO 7 reported. Officials said it was not immediately clear how long the man had been in the water and noted that detectives are continuing to gather information.
