State crime-scene investigators from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation were at the North Royalton Service Center on Thursday after a city employee was found dead, city officials said. The Service Center, which houses the city service department, building division and other municipal offices at 1545 Royalton Road, was taped off while investigators processed the scene. Officials did not immediately release the employee’s name or a cause of death.
As reported by Cleveland.com, North Royalton police requested assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s crime scene unit to process the Service Center. According to that report, BCI personnel worked alongside local officers while evidence collection was underway.
What Was Visible At The Scene
On-scene video and reporting from WOIO/Cleveland19 showed a crime-scene technician leaving the building carrying a large brown paper bag that was later loaded into a BCI truck. Police kept the immediate area around the Service Center clear while investigators photographed and documented evidence.

In a statement to Cleveland.com, Council President Paul Marnecheck said the city is deeply saddened by the tragic and sudden loss of one of our colleagues and added there is “no threat to the community.” Ohio Attorney General investigators confirmed BCI’s crime-scene response, and authorities said the investigation is ongoing and offered no timeline for when more details would be released.
