Yesterday afternoon turned grim on Wendelkin Street when Dallas police found a man unresponsive in the 3500 block. Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the victim as 60-year-old Moroco Conerly, and for now, his death is formally listed as unexplained while detectives try to piece together what happened.

According to DPD Beat, officers were dispatched to the scene at roughly 2:20 p.m., and the incident has been documented under case #109140-2026. The department reports that Dallas Fire-Rescue pronounced Conerly deceased and that Dallas police are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his death. Neighborhood history
Wendelkin Street is no stranger to serious violence. In June 2020, a fatal stabbing in the 3800 block was covered by CBS News Texas, and in 2013 a nearby block was the site of a deadly shooting reported by The Dallas Morning News. Those incidents highlight that parts of South Dallas, including stretches of Wendelkin, have struggled with recurring public-safety problems.
Dallas police say the investigation into Conerly’s unexplained death is ongoing and that they plan to release more details as they become available.
