Mythos Greek Bistro has turned a familiar Central Avenue address into a slice of Santorini, centering the whole experience around a sprawling outdoor patio that leans hard into traditional Greek plates and late night music. The St. Petersburg spot blends everyday comfort dishes with a bit of showtime at the table, including flaming saganaki and charcoal grilled meats, alongside a full bar and year round outdoor seating.
Patio, live music and tableside flair
Owner Danjel Morina says the patio is the heart of the operation, with roughly 20 tables plus a bar, and plans for regular live events. "A lot of people love our patio," Morina told FOX 13 Tampa Bay, which reports that the menu leans on gyros, charcoal grilled lamb chops, stuffed grape leaves, keftedes, village salads and seafood such as mussels, octopus and sea bass. According to the outlet, staff light flaming saganaki at the table as one of the bistro’s signature bits of tableside theater.
Backstory and opening
Mythos moved into the former Salty Nun space at 2501 Central Avenue after a months long renovation that embraced blue and white, island style decor, Creative Loafing Tampa Bay reported. The outlet notes that chef co owner Konstantinos "Dinos" Chilias helped shape the menu and that the team initially operated on staggered hours while they waited on final licensing. Creative Loafing also reported that the menu features branzino, Scottish salmon and a variety of spreads and small plates.
Where it fits on Central Avenue
The owners kept the old Salty Nun stage, renovating it to host DJs, Greek singers and weekend dance nights as part of a plan to blur the line between dinner and nightlife, according to St. Pete Catalyst. The partners told the Catalyst they are importing select ingredients and Greek wines, aiming for a space that reads family friendly earlier in the evening and more nightclub adjacent later on. For Central Avenue regulars, Mythos becomes another patio focused option on a stretch already known for evening crowds and live entertainment.
