A 43-year-old man was found with a stab wound near the I-85 connector and North Tryon Street yesterday, turning an ordinary night in northeast Charlotte into an active crime scene as first responders rushed him to the hospital with serious injuries. Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers quickly taped off the area while MEDIC crews treated the victim and detectives moved in to process evidence. As of Wednesday, investigators had not released any suspect description and the case remained very much open.
Investigation underway
According to WCNC, officers found the injured man along the North Tryon corridor on Tuesday night and confirmed he is 43 years old. WCNC reports that MEDIC transported him to a hospital and that detectives continued collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses into the night.
Police appeal for tips
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is asking anyone with information about the stabbing to contact Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600, according to the department's newsroom guidance. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Crime Stoppers P3 Tips app or website.
North Tryon corridor in focus
The North Tryon stretch has seen several violent incidents this year. A March stabbing on North Tryon left a man fighting for life. Local station WSOC also reported a late-June stabbing at North Tryon and West 15th Street, underscoring a series of recent assaults along the corridor.
