A 17-year-old accused in a deadly Norristown shooting last November has been moved out of Montgomery County and into a more secure juvenile unit in Delaware County after officials cited safety concerns tied to alleged in-custody assaults.
Court records say the teen, identified in charging documents as Theodore Adams, was transferred Friday from the Montgomery County Youth Center to secure juvenile housing at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Thornton, Delaware County. Adams is facing first- and second-degree murder charges in what prosecutors describe as an ambush-style attack that left a 19-year-old dead.
The victim, 19-year-old Hamid Boyd, was killed on Nov. 30, 2025, when multiple shooters opened fire in the 1000 block of Powell Street in Norristown. Detectives recovered 45 fired cartridge casings at the scene. According to the Montgomery County DA's office, Adams and 18-year-old Mark Fields Jr. were arrested in December, and a third suspect, 20-year-old Ziyker Evan Washington, was later sought and then arrested. Prosecutors have charged Adams with murder and related offenses and say the killing appears tied to a feud between rival groups.
